Les Tatzes – Syrah

CHF42.00

Selected plots, loess soil over gneiss. A quintessential Syrah from crystalline soil, exuding aromas of violets and pepper. Grown on a site within the Follatères appellation, this Syrah offers an expressive nose of grapefruit and Timut pepper. The wine is juicy, full-bodied and wild, yet refined in texture, with an unexpected freshness. It ages beautifully.

Description

The Tatzes (or Les Tâches) terroir, at an altitude of 510 to 565 metres. South-east facing. Loess soils over bedrock. The winegrowers call them ‘red soils’. Prone to rapid evaporation, they are nutrient-poor and very well-drained. Very shallow soils resting directly on gneiss, virtually free of diklases and faults. Vinification using whole bunches (partially or entirely), ageing in casks and used barrels for 12 to 18 months, followed by bottle ageing for 3 to 18 months.
